Fled to Mar-a-Lago as LA Burned

In January 2025, as wildfires raged across California, a number of the state’s Republican lawmakers, included Rep. Kevin Kiley abandoned their state during the crisis, opting instead to join Donald Trump at Mar-a-Lago.

A “MAGA Champion”

In 2022, Donald Trump endorsed Kevin Kiley for Congress. Trump went on to say, "Kevin is going to be a MAGA Champion in Congress and has my Complete and Total Endorsement!"

The Two Faces of Kevin

In May 2025, Kevin Kiley voted for the so-called “One Big Beautiful Bill,” which will add a massive $3.4 trillion to the deficit, while cutting Medicaid and SNAP just to pay for tax cuts that mostly benefit the rich.

The vote passed 215-214. Two republicans voted against and one voted present. Kiley voted yes.

The bill makes Trump-era tax cuts permanent for the ultra-wealthy, while dangling short-term deductions for working families that conveniently expire after Trump’s term ends. It also added cruel new work requirements that could push millions of poor, elderly, and disabled Americans off the benefits they rely on.

Even the Congressional Budget Office says the richest Americans come out ahead, while the poorest will actually lose resources over time.
