SNIPPETS OF THE JESSUP U. JOB FAIR EVENT AT THE ROCKLIN CAMPUS

OUTSIDE MUSIC: Was that Raging Grannies? “God rest ye, merry billionaires.”
For Handmaids participation: Next time, let’s chant “this is what theocracy looks like.”
The Jessup security guard vehicle displays a logo that includes a Christian cross.
Inside the federal government ICE job fair, it was crowded, and there were clusters at many booths, but only a few at the tables showed crowd interest at U.S. Customs, Immigration Service, Customs and Border Patrol and Homeland Security. So that was a good sign!
CBP and HSI displayed their table in a corner: a proud veteran in a wheelchair parked in the corner between them. He had an array of anti-ICE, etc, protest signs. He said he’d been instructed to leave, but didn’t budge. He was willing to be arrested for his nonviolent protest. He stayed in place the entire time the witness observed.
HSI had just a bare table. Very low profile. CBP stationed its two officers in front of the table, flanking each end. Seemed to be rather unapproachable stance. I never interrupted, but did return several times to grab more swag: the rich irony of it — a stress ball in the shape of the continental USA!
U.S. Navy recruiters told me with straight faces they didn’t know what I was talking about when I asked about the double tap. Hadn’t heard anything about boats being bombed or ethical questions…completely open-faced liars.
Coast Guard recruiters said they didn’t know statistics on suspected drug smugglers they stop on the high seas, who turn out not to be carrying drugs (I’ve read 20%)
U.S. Marshalls have been busy lately providing security for judges and serving subpoenas to electeds.
And Chris Bennett held a seminar for a group of students who came down to see what we were about. They seemed to appreciate and learn from him. More hope!
