Message from our New Chair, Julann Brown
To our Democratic Community across Placer County,
I am honored to serve as the new Chair of the Placer County Democratic Central Committee. At a time when our nation, our state, and even our local communities are facing profound uncertainty and turmoil, many of us are navigating a wide range of emotions and searching for the right way to express them. Every day, I am reminded of the extraordinary strength, resilience, and heart within the Placer County Democratic Party.
The challenges around us are real — and at times, even within our own party, we see behavior that is not only disheartening but morally indefensible. But those moments do not define who we are. Like many of you, I move between frustration, disillusionment, anger, hope, and determination – ultimately, I land on determination. What truly defines us is how we choose to respond, how we show up for one another, and how we continue to live our shared values with integrity.
Over the past year, we’ve made real progress together — Town Halls that brought voters and leaders into the same room, Democracy Workshops that educate and empower new activists, Prop 50 mobilization that demonstrated our ability to organize countywide, and current GOTV efforts reaching voters for June Primary. These accomplishments reflect who we are when we work in partnership. And now, we are taking another major step forward. I am happy to announce that we have just signed a lease on a Democratic Headquarters for Placer County, giving us a visible, accessible home for organizing, training and community connection.
As we look ahead, our focus remains clear. The primary purpose of the Placer County Democratic Central Committee is to build the Democratic brand and to develop strong community leaders throughout the county — in public office, on boards and commissions, and within the Democratic Party infrastructure, including our clubs. This is long-term work, and it requires intention, collaboration, and a shared commitment to nurturing leadership at every level.
This work cannot be done in silos. It depends on partnership — between the Central Committee, our chartered clubs, our Labor partners, community organizations, and the many volunteers who give their time and heart to this movement. Together, we can build a unified Democratic ecosystem in Placer County. One where clubs are supported, candidates are nurtured, volunteers are valued, and community members feel connected to something larger than themselves.
Thank you for your commitment to our community and to the values that guide us. Your dedication matters more than ever. I look forward to continuing this work alongside you as we strengthen our connections, deepen our collaboration, and build a more inclusive and resilient Democratic future for Placer County.
Democratically Yours,
Julann Brown
