Community organizers have this message to share:
On 12/8, ICE will be recruiting at William Jessup University. In Leviticus 19:33-34, the Lord commands us not to oppress the stranger in our land. We are to love the stranger as we love ourselves. Jesus makes this even clearer in Matthew 25 34-40: Whatever we do to the stranger, we do to Christ. Please email the university with the following script to this addresses: vpaaoffice@jessup.edu or Admissions@jessup.edu or john.jackson@jessup.edu
“On your "Our Philosophy of Faith Integration" page, you state the following: "We affirm that God is the source of all truth and has revealed truth both generally in the natural world and specifically in Scripture (Ps. 19) and the person of Jesus." I applaud you for taking this position regarding the scriptures and the person of Jesus. However, in Matthew 25, Jesus makes his position on immigrants quite clear: What you do to the immigrants, you do to him. Any attempt to interpret these sacred words differently undermines the authority of scripture and the words of Jesus. For this reason, I was shocked to discover you were hosting ICE at a job fair on your campus on December 6th.
Every day, we hear about more atrocities committed by ICE officers against immigrants and others. To date, ICE has caused pregnant women in their custody to miscarry, beaten immigrants to death, arrested green card applicants and others who are trying to follow the legal process for immigration, conducted raids on churches and schools, shot at pastors, and much more. This has happened right here in Northern California.
Suppose William Jessup University supports an agency that engages in this kind of behavior by hosting them at a job fair on your campus. In that case, you will compromise your Christian witness in our community. The damage to the good name of WJU may be irreparable.
Please prayerfully reconsider allowing them to recruit at your job fair on December 8th.”
